Apricot is a sweet and fleshy fruit that comes from the Rosaceae family and grows on the Prunus armeniaca tree. It is usually small, round or oval shaped and its outer skin is yellow or orange in color and sometimes covered with red spots. The inside is yellow or orange with a hard core in the middle. Apricots can be consumed fresh, dried or processed.

Apricots are rich in nutrients. They contain vitamins A and C, potassium, dietary fiber and antioxidants. Vitamin A, especially in the form of beta-carotene, is beneficial for eye health. Vitamin C strengthens the immune system. Dietary fiber supports the digestive system and provides a feeling of satiety.
