Our History

The foundations of Altun Gıda were laid in the 1980s in İskenderun, Hatay, by Zeki Altun, through agricultural and commercial activities. What began as a trading business soon took a new direction when the demand for fresh fruits and vegetables from business partners created new opportunities. Responding to these demands, Altun started sourcing products and, over time, began leasing production facilities. By collaborating with contracted farmers in the Hatay and Çukurova regions, he gradually increased production capacity and eventually established his own farms.

Reflecting on a pivotal moment in 2011, Zeki Altun explains:

“We reached a point where we needed to make a difference. We tried to raise farmers’ awareness about the harmful effects of pesticide use, but the results were not as expected. That is why we decided to start our own production. By doing so, we distinguished ourselves from competitors by exporting products that meet European standards.”

This approach marked a true turning point, shaping the company’s story and laying the foundation for its growth.

Today, Altun Gıda is a net exporter, supplying fresh produce to more than 50 countries across the European Union, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ukraine, the Far East, and the Middle East.
