The California pepper (Capsicum annuum), also known as the bell pepper, is one of the most widely cultivated pepper species in the world. Although originating in Central and South America, the hybrid variety known today as the “California Wonder” was first developed in the United States in the early 20th century. Its fleshy texture and large, square-shaped form make it a favorite in stuffed vegetables, salads, and stir-fries.

Extensively cultivated in the Mediterranean and Marmara regions of Turkey, the California pepper adds variety to cuisines with its diverse colors (green, red, yellow, orange). As the color matures, its sweetness increases, and its nutritional value increases.
